Rolf Scholz of the Giessen 46ers Rackelos joins Scorers 1st Showcase coaching staff

The Head-Coach of the farm team of the German BBL team Giessen 46ers will join the coaching staff of the Scorers 1st Showcase in Las Vegas this upcoming July.

Rolf Scholz led his team Giessen 46ers Rackelos to the semi-finals in the German ProB this year and did a terrific job combining player development and success on the court!

We are excited to have Rolf with us in Las Vegas.

Here is a quick Q&A with Rolf:

Q: This is your first time in Las Vegas for the Scorers 1st Showcase and the NBA Summer League – what’s the upside for a coach to see players live at the Scorers 1st Showcase and what are you looking forward to?

A: First of all I am thankful to be in Vegas at this particular time of the year. I feel lucky I can get in touch with so many interesting coaches, officials and players.

I like the idea of seeing those players face to face in real practice and game situations. I think it’s a great deal for both, players and coaches to meet up in reality so you can get a better impression of talent, personality and personal chemistry. Furthermore I’m seeking for new impressions in coaching in general.

Q: What do you look for when you scout potential players for your pro team?

A: The most important thing in my eyes are not excellent single components but the whole package. Talent, skills, personality as well as the will and the potential for further development. Besides good physical constitution I consider personality as a very important factor because to me it’s the key for a good team chemistry. The ability of playing as a team should be obvious in team-sports but we need to see how players are able to communicate on and off the court and which attitude they bring along and how they deal with negative situations for example.

Q: Do you have any tips for players prior to the Scorers 1st Showcase?

A: Work hard, be yourself and enjoy the time on and of the court.
