Phoenix Hagen Head-Coach Kevin Magdowski to coach at the Scorers 1st Showcase 2018 in Las Vegas

We are excited to announce Kevin Magdowski as one of the Head-Coaches at the Scorers 1st Showcase 2018 in Las Vegas on the campus of UNLV right next to the NBA Summer League.

German Coach Magdowski is currently the Head-Coach of German ProA team Phoenix Hagen after coaching teams in Luxembourg and Colombia over the past years.

“Kevin has been with us at previous Scorers 1st Showcase events and his style of play and commitment to working with players is something that will be a great asset for all player attending. We are excited to have him with us in Las Vegas in July and we wish him and Phoenix Hagen all the best for the upcoming Play-Offs in Germany.” said Scorers 1st CEO Gerrit Kersten-Thiele.

Here is a quick Q&A to get to know Kevin Magdowski:

Q: You have been to Las Vegas several times already – what’s the upside for a coach to see players live at the Scorers 1st Showcase?

A: It is always better to meet players in person. You have the chance to work them out within your concept and recruiting idea and it gives you an opportunity to evaluate their game and skill set beyond what you see on video.

Q: What do you look for when you scout potential players for your team?

A: It is the person you scout not the talent. Character you can just recruit when you are there talking with the players and when you can see how they interact in the gym during games and work-outs. That’s where the Scorers 1st Showcase really adds a lot of value for me and all the other coaches and team representatives in attendance.

Q: Do you have any tips for players prior to the Scorers 1st Showcase?

A: Be open to interact and make sure you always act professionally! Be on time for work-outs and be ready to perform! Seeing guys that come in out of shape and not ready is always hard to see, as it’s a lost opportunity. Every positive impression can influence how a coach or GM will see you.

Q: Give us a little bit of background about your coaching career so far and how working in different leagues has helped you.

A: I am glad that I had so many opportunities in my life. Starting my pro career in Berlin , coaching a decade in Luxembourg, being the first German coach in South America and finally the current opportunity to  coach Phoenix Hagen in the ProA in Germany.
