With another coach being announced for the Scorers 1st Showcase 2018 in Las Vegas later this week, we are happy to announce the addition of Jason Price to our coaching staff this upcoming July.
Jason has experience as a pro player in Europe and has seen the game from several different sides as a coach. Having been an Assistant Coach with German BBL Bremerhaven in the past and running his own AAU and player development program in the US he has just been hired as the Head-Coach of Sparta Bertrange in the top-league in Luxembourg.
Below is a quick Q&A with Jason prior to the Scorers 1st Showcase 2018:
Q: This is your first time in Las Vegas for the Scorers 1st Showcase and the NBA Summer League – what’s the upside for a coach to see players live at the Scorers 1st Showcase and what are you looking forward to?
A: The upside to seeing players live is you get to see more of the players personalities. How they interact with their coach and teammates, the effort they put out every possession. You also get a chance to see players who have been working hard all summer to get to this point and showcase themselves against players who play at such a high level.
I’m looking forward to interacting and working with the scorers 1st team, meeting, learning and networking with other coaches. Being in a basketball rich environment, an atmosphere where basketball professionals who have the drive and hunger look to take their games to the next level at this well run exciting showcase!
Q: What do you look for when you scout potential players for your pro team?
A: I look for the type of player that the team need. Would love to see players who take pride in playing hard on both ends of the floor. I try and look for the players that show they are aggressive but unselfish at the same time, players who maximize what they do really well and are not just trying to score every possession they get the ball.
Q: Do you have any tips for players prior to the Scorers 1st Showcase?
A: My number one tip is to be yourself. Be confident and sure of everything you do. Do the things that gave you success the last season you played. More importantly be personable, respectful, keeping a smile on your face, be excited for the opportunity to showcase yourself on and off the court.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: I’d like to thank Daniel Poerschke for inviting me to be a part of the Scorers 1st family in Las Vegas. Looking forward to a great time!
